Curiosity to Client: What To Expect When Booking Me As Your Photographer!

Picture it (pun intended): coming across my Instagram profile that led you to my website. After viewing my portfolio and biography, you're interested in working with me for a portrait session - now what? This article is designed to take you through my simple client process, from our initial conversation to viewing finished images in your portal.

"It’s when you and I work together that we’re able to create memories that you’ll look at forever.

Inquiry

It's here where we'll having our first conversation and that can happen by completing the contact form on the bio page, sending an email, or even shooting me a text. I'm available to answer your questions and explain next steps. Most scenarios will end with booking a consultation and discussing what to expect. I like to encourage clients to come with questions, ideas, and an open mind, and if you don't have a clear vision yet, that's ok.

Consultation

It's at this stage where we get to know each other and collaborate on ideas. Transparency is

important in relationship building and by the end, you’ll know my background, the type of camera and equipment I use, my style when leading a photo session, and experience in client-led shoots. Building your confidence in my ability to execute your vision while preparing for the session is why consultations are crucial to a positive experience. It allows us to be on the same page early and makes for a much smoother session.

Booking

Great! We’ve built rapport and are excited for our upcoming session - time to book! Clicking the “Book” tab on my website will take you to my available services. There, choose the session, date, and time discussed in the consultation, pay the required fee, review and sign your contract, and receive a confirmation on all of these tasks. As your appointment time gets closer, you will receive a reminder. I’m available for any questions in the meantime.

Session Day

Now it's time for the fun part - the actual photo session! I’m a firm believer in “getting your money’s worth” which is why clients must be on time. Look at it this way: to provide the ten quality images included in your portrait session, at least 50 needs review, and it becomes more challenging when our time is reduced.

Before the magic begins, I like to do a quick refresher on poses, take a few test shots, and answer any questions (and also while shooting). I’ve found this helps clients get over any initial jitters and become more comfortable in the environment. I am a “hands-on” photographer meaning I’m not afraid to fix a hair that’s out of place, straighten a tie, or help position you for the appropriate shot. It’s when you and I work together that we’re able to create memories that you’ll look at forever.

Post Session

Once your photos are completed, you'll receive an email containing a link to your album. There, you'll be prompted to enter the provided password and can view, share, and download your photos directly to your device. I'll check in for any feedback or final questions, and as always a referral or two is greatly appreciated.

While there’s much more to gain from working together, this article is the perfect resource for getting started. I'm so excited to work with you!
