DEAR BLACK MAN
Photography Exhibit

Dear Black Man, before it became the title of my exhibit, was the title of a poem that I wrote in 2018. It was inspired by the consistent killing and brutality inflicted on black men by police officers. I wrote the poem to uplift the men who read it, assuring them that they were understood and seen. Dear Black Man is meant to leave viewers inspired rather than threatened or limited to self-bias.
My mission is to defeat stereotypes and provide admiration to all black men while bringing light and attention to who they are as human beings, their contributions to society, and more uniquely, their silent traumas. Representation is incredibly important, and as my platform continues to grow, I want to remain true to who I am and the ideals that shape all areas of my life.
